Center Valley Animal Rescue is offering a new volunteer orientation via Zoom from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18.
The rescue center depends on volunteers to help care for more than 150 animals daily.
Volunteers can be individuals, couples, parents with children, service groups, students and community service workers. The only requirements are a caring heart, a dedication to animal welfare, and a signed waiver. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The minimum age for a helper is 8 years of age. A volunteer application is required, and is available online (see centervalleyanimalrescue.org/volunteer to apply).
Daily duties include inside animal care for cats, dogs, birds, small animals, and reptiles, along with daily outside animal care for sheep, rabbits, goats, llamas, horses, and more. Volunteers can also assist with office duties, fundraising committees, staffing spay/neuter clinics, event planning, and construction.
The rescue’s animal population is dynamic, and houses a wide variety of species at all ages at any given time. Volunteers help rehabilitate and re-home animals.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of volunteering, according to the center, is the opportunity to socialize and restore human and animal bonds with the creatures.
