The Port Townsend School Board has chosen Victoria Kalscheuer as the new principal for Blue Heron Middle School.

Officials said Kalscheuer will bring a diverse set of skills in school administration and teaching, with experience working as associate principal, summer school principal, special education teacher, and a social studies teacher.

“I am very excited to join the Blue Heron Middle School and Port Townsend community. I look forward to learning and growing alongside the dedicated and skilled staff at Blue Heron,” Kalscheuer said in a press release.

“I am confident we will continue to increase engagement and the achievement of our students both within our school learning environment and the community as a whole,” she added.

Currently the Director of Special Education and Pupil Services in the Waterloo School District in Wisconsin, Kalscheuer has a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy analysis from the University of Wisconsin.

“Tori is the right leader to move Blue Heron forward as we support success for all students. I am excited to have her join the team as we launch into the 2021-22 school year,” said District Superintendent Linda Rosenbury.

Kalscheuer was chosen following an extensive screening and interview process that included a stakeholder committee interview, a community question-and-answer session, an individual interview with the superintendent, and a comprehensive background check.
