New collective show features work by four photographers

The new exhibition by the 823 Photo Collective features the work of four local photographers.

It will be a diverse lineup, said group spokesperson and participating artist Johanna King.

“Rick York is showing evocative and sometimes startling images of mannikins, taken over several years at Continental Display in Sacramento,” she said.

“Joe Tysl’s nature images illustrate the beauty of the world around us, in both close up and landscape views [and] Ginny Banks’ portraits were taken with film, rather than digitally, and her prints are silver gelatin, a medium that is rarely seen these days.”

King’s own work highlights intimate portraits that strive to reveal the personalities of her subjects.

The gallery, located upstairs at 823 Water St., is open from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays; 3 to 7 p.m. Fridays; and 4 to 8 p.m. Saturdays.
