New case of coronavirus confirmed in Jefferson County

A mid-county man in his 20s has tested positive for COVID-19, Jefferson County health officials reported Tuesday.

The new case increased the total number of coronavirus infections in Jefferson County to 344.

Seven residents were still in isolation Tuesday, according to Jefferson County Public Health. 

Test results were also pending for 66 residents on March 23.

According to county health officials, a total of 20,537 tests have been administered for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 20,127 tests have come back negative.

Through Tuesday, 155 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 153 in mid-county residents; and 36 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

Based on gender, 175 males have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Jefferson County, and 169 females have tested positive.

A total of 25 residents have been hospitalized for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and two deaths have been linked to COVID-19.

County health officials reported that 333 people have recovered from COVID-19.

People are considered "recovered" from COVID-19 at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.
