Nancy Lee LaLander (Smith) was born on April 6, 1944 in Cannon Beach, Oregon. She married Eugene LaLander on Oct. 15, 1963. They raised three daughters; Dorothy “Dottie” Haley, Merrilee Ridgway and Edie Haubrick. Over the years she was a homemaker, wife, and mother. She and dad helped start the Dungeness Oyster Farms with Ernie and Nellie Krieger and Uncle Joe and Aunt Edie Engman. They worked there until they moved to Quilcene the summer of 1979 where they worked at Coast Oyster Farms. She volunteered with the Quilcene Fire Department Auxiliary. She found her calling for Jesus at the Quilcene Assembly of God.

Her husband passed away on Aug. 13, 1996. She went to work at Kai Tai Care Center in Port Townsend in the laundry department. She eventually became a Certified Nursing Assistant and continued to work there until 2010 when she retired.

She is survived by Dorothy “Dottie” and Curtis Haley, Merrilee and Michael Ridgway, Edie and Donald Haubrick, her sister Carol and Ken King, Michael and Dale Lowe, and several grandkids and nephew and nieces.

Preceded in death Eugene LaLander (husband), Raymond Harry Thomas Smith (father), Emily Boles (mother), her baby brother Kenneth Allen, and her best friend Sally Grace.

A memorial service will be held at the Quilcene Assembly of God Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022.
