Mystic Faire makes container for community

The idea of a mystic is often conflated with some solitary figure high in the mountains, deep in a cave, or hidden away in the woods. This year’s “Into the Mystic Faire” at Unity Church hopes to dispel some of that by uplifting the theme of “Community.”

“Moving forward in our social systems, familiarity with each other, trust, support, and respect is everything,” event co-chair Jan Jorgensen said.

This free event will take place inside Unity Church from Thursday, Oct. 13 through Saturday Oct. 15.

For Friday and Saturday, Unity will be filled with readers, healers, and vendors offering their goods, services, empathy, and intuition.

Opening the container Thursday night will have less action but just as much attunement as Sharon Maureen Hockenbury — a certified nutrition, wellness, fitness, and life coach and consultant  — starts it off with a talk on “The Triad of Alignment for Vibrating Authentically.”

“It really is about the vibration of wellbeing and trusting you’re intuition,” Jorgensen said, adding, “She actually lives what she teaches. I see her everyday in posts to Facebook out there hiking, celebrating, living her life joyfully.”

After the talk, Jorgensen herself will lead a sound healing, taking attendees through a guided meditation using a crystal singing bowl, bells, and gongs.

“It’s going to be experiential and essentially I don’t plan it,” she said. “It is going to be grounding and anchoring a community container of loving beings sharing their gifts and congenial relations there to kick it off and to send people home relaxed and stress free, excited to come back the next two days.”

During those next two days, all are welcome explore the vendor booths which will include artists and craftspeople like Claire Mack with her Illuminated Earth Oracle Deck, a vibrant, hand-painted and collaged deck of 63 cards which combines concepts of the human experience with the beauty and mystery of the natural world.

Husband and wife duo Lorna Joy and Robért Shashinda will also be there with their hand made pendulums and iron worked art.

And of course there will be a cornucopia of crystals.

For those looking for a little guidance, come and sign up for a session with the various tarot, oracle, psychic, and astrology readers for $40 per half-hour session.

There will also be energy healers at the event using their intuitive techniques in 45-minute sessions for $75.

While some might dismiss this kind of thing, those who feel called will feel right at home.

“I’m a nurse. I am scientifically based and I absolutely for certain know that these readers and healers have simply a very strong connection to spiritual communication which is absolutely necessary for mankind’s next steps,” Jorgensen said. “These people have honed and honed and mastered their ability to trust pictures, subtle guidances. It is a very safe place to come in for guidance and self-exploration.”
