With one week to go before the 2021 General Election, approximately 22 percent of voters in Jefferson County have completed and returned their ballots.
According to the Washington Secretary of State, a total of 6,092 ballots have been returned for processing to the Jefferson County Elections Division.
A total of 5,995 ballots have been accepted; 1.59 percent have been challenged.
According to the state, Jefferson County has 27,571 eligible voters for the upcoming election, which features races for the Port Townsend City Council as well as local school boards, fire boards, the board for the Port of Port Townsend, and other positions.
Statewide, 12.2 percent of eligible voters have turned their ballots in.
Of those 587,441 ballots, a total of 562,322 have been accepted, and 7,047 have been challenged.
More than 4.8 million voters in Washington are registered to cast ballots in November.
Statewide, most of those who have sent their ballots back in — 25.8 percent — are voters who are aged 65 or over.
The age group of 55 to 64 is the block with the second-most ballot returns; 13.8 percent as of Tuesday, Oct. 26.
Jefferson County has the second highest percentage of ballot returns, statewide, with a week to go before the General Election.
Columbia County has the most, with 24.3 percent.
Adams County leads the state with the most ballots being challenged; at 2.8 percent.
