Back in September I wrote a letter advocating an increase in taxes to pay for our many languishing local, state and national programs and needs.
I also brought up the need to correct Washington state’s regressive tax system. I still strongly support that and have received positive feedback for my proposal.
The proposed 1/10th of a percent in the local sales tax flies in the face of my earlier comments about our regressive tax xystem.
However, with our current crises in affordable housing we need urgent action. So I reluctantly support rapid action on increasing our local sales tax.
