Traffic is expected to be delayed this week and next on US 101 near Gardiner Road in Jefferson County.
Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will continue pavement repairs as chip-seal work that started Monday, Aug. 10 will continue on Thursday, Aug. 13.
Crews will return for more work from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, through Thursday, Aug. 20.
Flaggers will direct travelers along several work zones for repairs to the driving surface between the Jefferson-Clallam County line and the US 101/SR 20 intersection.
Due to increased congestion seen during this work, WSDOT has added portable message signs along the highway. Crews have also made improvements to how traffic flows though the work zone in an effort to keep people moving.
Officials said that due to humidity and moisture concerns, this work requires daytime weather conditions.
Also, all work is weather-dependent and could be rescheduled.
Officials with the state Department of Transportation is encouraging travelers to pack their patience, add plenty of extra time or consider alternate routes if their plans include US 101.
