Monetizing Mediocrity

Yeah, it's another cartoon that didn't make it into the "New Yorker." Obviously not what they wanted. The online rejection note that comes after the online submission urges, no, suggests is probably the better word, that the submitter actually check out the magazine to determine what kind of humor they're going for.

Really, I don't have a lot more to say on the subject. I'm trying to decide between giving up and getting better.

Or getting bitter.

Okay, I'm going for better. It's better.

Meanwhile, I do occasionally think about some way I could hit it big with what I prefer to think of as 'high end' mediocrity; knowing there's some gap of timing and/or luck and/or undeniable talent, some measure of dogged determination that allows some to clear that space between where most of us are and what we see as success.

Meanwhile, thanks for reading; check out realsurfers.net if you get a moment. It's, um, pretty good; not monetized at all; not that I'm bragging about that.
