Mid-county, south county residents infected with COVID-19

Two additional cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County were reported Wednesday afternoon by public health officials.

Test results for 84 residents were received Wednesday.

The pair of infections pushed the cumulative total of coronavirus cases in the county to 330.

The new cases reported Feb. 17 involved a person in their 50s, and a person over the age of 80. A woman and a man were both infected with COVID-19. 

One case involved a south county resident, and the other case was a mid-county resident.

Public health officials are no longer providing individual case details.

Health officials noted that six people remain in isolation. COVID-19 test results were still pending for 24 Jefferson County residents late Wednesday.

County health officials reported Feb. 17 that 282 residents in the county have recovered from COVID-19. A total of 24 residents have been hospitalized after getting the coronavirus, and two deaths in Jefferson County have been attributed to the disease since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. 

According to Jefferson County Public Health, a total of 18,694 tests have been administered for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 18,340 tests have come back negative.

Through Wednesday, 152 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 148 in mid-county residents; and 30 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

Based on gender, 168 males have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Jefferson County, and 162 females have tested positive.
