Merry Christmas from Emaline

Posted

This year, The Leader got its annual Christmas cards from local elementary students, as is traditional, but one drawing stuck out for its creativity and clear expression.

This drawing done by 8-year-old Emaline Reeves tickled us silly for the story it tells of a Santa desperate to get out the door and start delivering presents, getting dressed behind the tree.

Here is a little bit about the artist.

Emaline is a third grader in Ms. Mosby’s class at Chimacum Elementary School. She’s born and raised in Jefferson County just like her mother Paige Schenk.

Emaline said she drew the picture because she thought it would be funny and because she thought The Leader would pick it for publication in the newspaper. She was right.

Schenk said this creative drawing is indicative of Emaline’s personality because she is always writing stories and drawing.

“She always has a pen and paper in her hand,” Schenk said.

For Christmas Emaline said she asked Santa for a new drawing set and an American Girl doll.

She said she loves Christmas because she gets to spend time with family she doesn’t normally see and because she loves the Christmas lights in her neighborhood.

Emaline also loves sports and music. Basketball and soccer are her favorite sports and she is always dancing around the house, Schenk said.

Schenk also said Emaline is always looking to help other people, is a great big sister to her six-year-old brother and one-year-old sister and can make friends with anyone.

“She is just the most amazing and kind-hearted little girl,” Schenk said, “She loves putting a smile on people’s faces.”

Emaline told The Leader she wants to wish everyone who sees her picture and reads this article a “Merry Christmas!”
