The fallout of the novel coronavirus continues to impact Port Townsend’s planned spring and summer events.
The Port Townsend Main Street Program cited its concerns over COVID-19 when announcing April 9 that its May “Art Wave: Children’s Art in the Stores” promotion, in conjunction with PT Artscape, has been canceled for this year.
“We look forward to hosting this outstanding exhibit of children’s art in Port Townsend stores, both uptown and downtown, in May of 2021,” said Mari Mullen, executive director of the Port Townsend Main Street Program.
Looking further ahead, the Seattle Theatre Group and Adam Zacks, STG’s chief programming officer and founder of the Sasquatch! Festival, decided to postpone THING, the multidisciplinary event staged at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend.
Following a sold-out inaugural year in 2019, THING is now slated to return Aug. 27-29, 2021.
The Leader would like to hear from local artists and businesses on how these and other cancellations are impacting them. Please call 360-385-2900 or email news@ptleader.com to contribute your input.
