Mary Katherine Baldwin born August 2, 1939 in Houston, TX, passed peacefully at home in Port Ludlow, Washington on July 31, 2017 after an extensive struggle with Alzheimer’s disease and other medical issues. Mary Kay is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles H. Baldwin , Jr., three children ( Charles h Baldwin III, Gregory B. Baldwin,( Pam ), and Michelle Jeanette Parker ( Jim ), five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Her family was the most important aspect of her life. She was an exceptional homemaker and, companion, and best friend. Her infectious laugh and sharp wit will be missed by all.

Mary Kay graduated from Lamar High School, Houston, TX; Stephens College, Columbia MO; and the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO with B.Ed. She taught elementary grades, but she primarily tutored children with learning disabilities which she found to be very rewarding.

Mary Kay was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for 25 years. She started in Sikeston, MO; then Mentor, OH; Greenville, MS; and finally with the Preceptor Alpha Epsilon Chapter in Raleigh, NC. Mary Kay was very active in the sorority and leaves behind many close and dear friends.

Mary kay, along with several other ladies, resurrected the NAMI ( National Alliance on Mental Illness ) Chapter in Jefferson County. She served as Sec- Treasurer and President. Mary Kay was very aware of the total disregard mental illness receives from both the state and national governments. Informing people of this problem was one of her life’s goals.

In Port Ludlow, she was active in the First Wednesday Luncheon group, the book club, and the garden club.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Mary Kay Baldwin to the Alzheimer’s Association ( ALZ.org ).
