Marine Science Center looking for volunteers

The Port Townsend Marine Science Center Museum will host a meeting Thursday for people who are interested in volunteering.

The meeting is 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26 at the museum at Fort Worden.

Helpers are needed to promote conservation of the Salish Sea, and the organization is hoping to recruit new volunteers to get ready for the busy summer season.

People who can assist as docents and greeters in the aquarium and the museum are sought.

This orientation meeting will share details about volunteer opportunities, and includes a tour of the aquarium at Fort Worden.

Citizen Science opportunities — including the Marine Mammal Stranding Network, larval crab study, and SoundToxins research — will also be detailed.
