Margaret Schermerhorn, long time resident of PT, has passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, warmth, and generosity.

Many will remember her as owner of Pacific Crossroads at 238 Taylor St., Port Townsend.

Born on August 5, 1947 in Thessaloniki, Greece, Margaret was raised in South Pasadena, California, where her love for art and community first took root.

In the 1970's and 80's she owned and operated The Espresso Bar in Old Town Pasadena -a vibrant cultural hub where many renowned and emerging artists and musicians gathered, worked, and found inspiration. The Espresso Bar became a beloved fixture known not just for its coffee but for the sense of community Margaret cultivated within its walls. It was a beacon of acceptance for anyone weird or different and for the underground scene of counter-culture in Los Angeles.

After moving to Port Townsend in 1989 Margaret owned and operated Pacific Crossroads, a charming and eclectic shop that became a cherished part of PT for all -a reflection of her creative spirit and generous heart. Whether through her shop or her own work as an artist, she was a passionate advocate for the arts and a constant positive presence in the community.

Margaret shared a full and rich life with her life partner, artist Jack McIntosh who passed in 2000. Margaret is survived by her daughter Molly and son Paul.

Her presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her but her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched and the art she so deeply believed in.
