Port Townsend police are investigating the death of a person who was found hanging in a tree near a Jefferson Healthcare employee parking lot off of Sheridan and Seventh streets in Port Townsend.
The body was discovered early Wednesday morning.
Police Chief Thomas Olson said the investigation was ongoing.
“We don’t have a lot of information right now,” Olson said.
Officers are reviewing video footage from the area, he said.
The identity of deceased has not been released.
Olson said the person has been identified as a White male, and that calls have been received from the family members of the deceased.
Witnesses reported seeing the body sometime around 7:30 a.m., and said police, fire, and medic units responded. Roughly an hour later, emergency responders had left the area.
Port Townsend Police Officer Nathan Holmes back at the location where the body was found at 8:30 a.m., and was walking through the area attempting to locate a silicone wedding band lost by a first responder.
