The City of Port Townsend is warning residents to expect a minor inconvenience through the weekend, to prevent a more major interruption of water service.
Ian Jablonski, water resources manager for the city, said Tuesday, March 7 that the city is lowering the water level in its old 5 million-gallon reservoir in preparation for its demolition.
What this means for city residents’ water usage is that some customers in the higher portions of the city’s low-elevation service zone might experience low water pressure through Sunday, March 12, he said.
Jablonski explained that the city is draining the last of the water in its old reservoir to avoid wasting water, after which it’s set to switch to its new reservoir and restore the water pressure.
“That way, whenever the old reservoir is demolished, nobody will notice, because none of our customers will be drawing from it anyway,” Jablonski said.
