I have made purchases at Sport Townsend as well as Quimper Mercantile. These stores carry very different merchandise, and I feel it is not appropriate for Quimper to be blamed for the closing of Sport Townsend. I’m sorry to see the closing of any downtown store in Port Townsend.
Whenever possible, I shop in Port Townsend as I like to support the local merchants here. Sometimes, however, a trip to Sequim is necessary. (By the way, I seldom shop at Walmart.)
I love Port Townsend and just hope that other small specialty shops will talk to Peter Quinn of Quimper Mercantile and other shop owners to get a handle on what each shop sells so there will be no more closures.
