Love-themed shows come to Port Townsend

Looking for love this Valentine’s Day? Check out some of the following events in Port Townsend and Jefferson County on Valentine’s Day and this weekend.

Heart Stories

Storyborne will host “Heart Stories,” an evening of story sharing through spoken word, music and song, dance, mime and visual art at the Cotton Building at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14.

“Heart Stories are stories from the heart,” said Bonnie Obremski, owner of Storyborne. “It is making the holiday our own. It is not just for couples. It is not just for singles. It is for anyone who has a story to tell from the heart about real emotions and feelings, not just candies and chocolates.”

The event is designed to explore not only the arts, but also the artists.

Twelve performing artists and five visual storytellers, including Amy Sousa, Alex Dugdale, Dirk Anderson, Al Bergstein and James Cook will perform.

Sponsored by the Port Townsend Arts Commission, the event is free and open to the public.

Fall in Love

with Your Library

The Port Townsend Public Library will host its fourth annual “Fall in Love with Your Library” open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 14. Meet the library staff, make Valentine’s Day cards, have refreshments and listen to live music while touring all the library has to offer.

Love is Alive at KPTZ

Community radio station KPTZ, will host a Valentine’s Day programming special and fundraiser all day Feb. 14. Tune to 91.9 FM to hear music, live performances, special guests and interviews. Paul Rogers, Jack Dwyer, The Unexpected Brass Band and others will perform.

“We’re sharing the love with the community with live music, special guests, special programming and fun for all,” said Ruby Fitch, KPTZ music director. “It’s going to be a great day of programming at KPTZ.”

The show will end in the evening with Captain Peacock’s Valentine’s dedication and music show, “LoveLine.” Special donor gifts will be provided by local businesses, such as Elevated Ice Cream, the Pourhouse, Pane D’Amore and Finnriver Farm & Cidery.

Joe Euro at

Old Alcohol Plant

Guitarist Joe Euro will bring romantic, instrumental, Spanish, classical and finger-style guitar playing to the Old Alcohol Plant’s Spirits Bar & Grill from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 14. Make reservations to enjoy dinner and the show.

Valentine’s Day

The Old Alcohol Plant will host a Spirited Canvas Sip & Paint for Valentine’s Day. Artist-in-residence Gary Nisbet will lead the class in painting flowers from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 14.

The evening includes pre-painting, dinner and drinks during the class. Reservations are necessary.

Valentine’s Day jazz

The Cellar Door in Port Townsend will host its fourth annual jazz show with the Jenny Davis Group.

Internationally known vocalist Jenny Davis will sing with her local jazz quartet, featuring trumpeter Ed Donohue from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 14.

Toastmasters open house:

‘Express Yourself!’

The Jefferson County Toastmasters club will host an open house at noon Feb. 14 at the Charles Pink House in Port Townsend.

The meeting, led by Lindy MacLaine, will feature two prepared speeches accompanied by short, impromptu talks with a theme of “Express Yourself!” Guests will be welcome to participate in the topics and to offer feedback on the content and delivery of prepared speeches.

The Toastmasters club helps people from diverse backgrounds express themselves more confidently.

Steamy Valentines Vintage Dance Hall fundraiser

The Brass Screw Confederacy will host a Valentines Vintage Dance Hall fundraiser to raise money for the American Legion Post 26 renovation from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 16 at the American Legion music hall.

The night will feature steamy gypsy swing, a burlesque show and signature Brass Screw cocktails.

Valentine’s Day Victorian Tea

The Old Consulate Inn will host a Valentine’s Day Victorian Tea at 1 p.m. Feb. 16.

Amid silver, china and crystal, guests will get to taste an array of savory finger sandwiches, delicate scones, fresh seasonal fruit and delectable sweets, served with local artisan teas.
