Loren Floyd Robison

Loren Floyd Robison passed away at Swedish Hospital in Seattle on May 11, 2019. He was 89. He was born in Wenatchee, WA, and then his family moved to Omak, WA. They lived in Omak until Loren was 11-years old. His family then moved to Port Orchard, WA in 1941. Loren graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1948. He worked at the Naval Shipyard for a while and then Boeing. Loren was married to Darlene Knight on June 2, 1950. They had two sons, Kevin and Kyle.

In 1952, Loren was drafted into the Army where he served in the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in 1954. Loren worked at Milton’s Donut Shop in Bremerton and then decided to use his GI Bill and enrolled in Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, where he graduated with a B.A. in the field of Education. In 1958 he was one of four teachers hired at the Fort Worden Diagnostic and Treatment Center for delinquent boys and girls.

Loren was divorced in 1959. In December 1960, he married Geri Robison. They had a beautiful daughter, Debra. When the Treatment Center was closed in 1971, he went back to teaching in the Port Townsend School District. Loren started the first Resource Room for Special Education. Loren went to Central Washington University and received his Master’s Degree in Special Education in 1973. He retired from teaching in 1987 after teaching 28 years.

Loren loved his church and all his brothers and sister in Christ at Calvary Community Church. He was a greeter on Sunday mornings and loved making people feel welcome. He also loved golfing especially with his wife Geri. They took many trips with close friends, golfing on many golf courses in Washington. He loved playing ping pong and played several times a week on his table at home. Loren enjoyed playing pool with all his friends at the Port Townsend Senior Center. He served on the Port Townsend Senior Association Board for many years as Secretary.

Loren had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to talk with people and was a great listener. He was a strong man of faith and loved his Lord with all his heart. He was loyal and loved deeply especially his wife Geri of 58 years. His family and friends appreciated the depth of his intellect.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister, and his beautiful daughter. He is survived by his wife Geri, sons Kevin and Kyle, son-in-law Rick Bond and wife Kim, grandchildren Spencer, Diana, Cally, Jason, Jeremy, Josh, Angelina, and Breezy, great-grandchildren Tyler, Katelynn, McKaela, Evan, Anisa, AllyMae, and Atlas.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Community Church in Port Townsend followed by a potluck. Donations in memory of Loren may be made to Calvary Community Church or to Donn Ring, checks payable to LEARN, 2204 Chestnut St., Port Townsend, WA.
