Seattle performance venue, West of Lenin, will present a virtual staged reading of Mara Lanthrop’s “IS STORY OF POOR SEA VILLAGE GIRL” for SAG-AFTRA Foundation Disaster Relief Fund.

Author, playwright and Port Townsend resident, Lanthrop’s 2007 one-act play with music tells the tale an optimistic woman living in a world of misogyny and abuse.

“From a beach bar on the edge of her village, the Girl is putting on a floor show for her audience of tourists,” the synopsis reads. “In broken and colorful English, she enacts her story of stumbling through all the wrong places on her way to creating a lucrative business and finding unexpected true love.”

Directed by Cynthia Stokes, actors Abby Dylan and Mark Lewis will star as the leads in the virtual reading.

West of Lenin will host the performances which will premiere on their YouTube channel at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 11. It will be available to stream on demand through March 25.

The show is free to view, though donations to benefit the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Disaster Relief Fund are encouraged.
