Regarding the Leader article on the devastating state audit of our county’s incompetent financial record, state law section 36.29.010 (6) says that the county treasurer “shall maintain financial records reflecting receipts and disbursement by fund in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.”
While the treasurer is an elected position, the country board of commissioners and all local agencies for whom the treasurer handles monies can give a “vote of no confidence” reflecting this state audit report.
