Does anyone remember the Republicans’ impeachment of President Bill Clinton? For lying about his sex life. How fickle we are as a nation; more importantly, how double-faced our representatives are, particularly Republicans.
Now we endure a president who lies about things more damaging to the country than his sex life, shares highly classified information with a combative foreign power and possibly obstructs justice. Where is the outrage of the Republicans?
Only months ago, candidate Trump was pillorying Hillary Clinton for leaking classified documents, which was proven untrue. (Her private server was the issue.) He wanted her locked up. Trump voters chanted the refrain. Republicans reveled in the attacks. Where are these people now? And their principles?
Apparently, the only thing that outrages a Republican is a successful Democrat.
Consider if President Obama had issued any of Trump’s self-aggrandizing tweets, had made weekly golfing trips at great taxpayer expense, had demoralized the nation and the world with his constant whining and woe-is-me attitude – all while grandstanding and not governing.
Yet Obama was constantly attacked by Republicans while he was trying to accomplish meaningful common-sense goals – like achieving universal health care, dealing humanely with immigration, protecting the environment and its future, building respect and cooperation with allies.
Instead of helping him govern, offering alternative approaches, Republicans repeatedly obstructed. How dare a Democrat achieve something for the common good. They were outraged at his efforts and successes.
Have we had enough trashing of the truth, dangerous play with Russians (and their influence), and overall incompetence and narcissism that are sacrificing the safety and well-being of our nation?
Where is the outrage of Republicans?
