LETTER: Water meters also may not be accurate

Posted

The Jefferson County Public Utility District recently stated in The Leader that its electric meters may not be calculating power consumption accurately.

I have evidence that their water meters are also not accurate. My water consumption for October, November and December was through the roof, according to their usage table and the high bills for those months.

My high-usage months are always July, August and September. I knew I had no leaks in my system, so I called the PUD.

PUD indicted my high bills for year-end were “catch up” from the summer since their meters were not accurate.

Editor’s note: Jefferson County Public Utility District general manager Jim Parker was asked to comment on this letter. Parker wrote: “The water meter itself was accurate, however, the device that transmits the read (ERT) had failed. We went back and spread the high consumption read over the time in question so as to not penalize the customer for our conservation water rates.”
