Letter to the Editor: Animal Cruelty In Our town

On the night of Feb. 25, my horse was shot several times with what appears to be a bb gun or an air rifle.

One shot was at close range and left a deep penetrating wound, the others at distance with superficial skin damage.

Several nights later my horse went into a shock-like state due to increasing pain, as the deep wound was on his chest above his shoulder, an area with lots of movement and weight bearing.

This horse is a kind, loving gentle giant who is curious about people, even people who do not belong in his field in the middle of the night. The thought of someone using my horse as target practice, who would have been terrified, horrifies me.

We currently do not know who was behind such a heinous act, the police are still investigating.

If anyone has any information, please pass it along to the local police. By printing this, I hope that any parent will think twice before giving their children such "toys."
