Last week the Jefferson County commissioners considered a resolution affirming Jefferson County’s support for all our residents – whether documented or not. I support the commissioners’ efforts.
Our economy thrives because of resident workers, some of whom may not be citizens. Many of these individuals work in agriculture, the forest industry or in restaurant trades. They are most often hard-working, productive, honest workers. I support them in their diligence, and I invite others here in Jefferson County to affirm their dignity and value.
I understand that the City Council will also be considering a resolution. I support them in this and look forward to our town joining our county in underscoring the value and dignity of all working people.
