After some almost comical structures – high school sports on the front page? No music listings? – the new owners of The Leader are to be congratulated for producing a high-quality and interesting newspaper that is now closer to meeting the needs of Port Townsend and Jefferson County.
In the last month or so, the issues of The Leader improved each week. The articles are more relevant to my interests, and the This Week section is better than it’s been for a long time.
Port Townsend identifies as an arts community, and this is the most important part of the paper to many of us.
Now, we can count on each issue providing us with the information we need about local art events that can’t be found in any other single source.
Katie Kowalski is doing a fantastic job. I always read the two or three informative and interesting pieces she writes each week. Her stories give the This Week section quality and depth.
So, congratulations, welcome to Port Townsend and thanks.
We are fortunate to have a local newspaper that once again connects and informs the community.
