LETTER: Some ICE stories are alarming

I don’t think we have had any recent problems with Immigration & Customs Enforcement [ICE] agents in Port Townsend, but I have read a couple of articles that cause me concern.

One is that ICE agents are designated as police. They frequently use that term when knocking on doors. When people hear “Police,” they tend to open their doors.

Remember: They can’t come in your house unless you invite them in or they have a warrant from a judge.

The other event is even more alarming. ICE agents recently boarded a plane in New York that had just arrived from California. They demanded to see the passengers’ papers before allowing them to disembark.

Is this Hitler’s Nazi Germany? I think all the passengers should have sat fast and refused to comply. What about you?
