LETTER: No flags in PT on Presidents Day

Another national holiday, Presidents Day, has passed. In Chimacum, Port Hadlock, Port Ludow – all flying flags. In Port Townsend – nothing.

Instead of the flavor of the week, it is the “protest of the week.” Anti-mill. Anti-Navy. Anti-pipeline. Anti. Anti. Anti.

Why not just enjoy the privilege to live in this beautiful area? But no, it is considering becoming a “sanctuary city.”

Good-bye to any federal funding. Hello to increased property taxes.

I’m thankful I’ve lived here over 50 years and know what a great place this was.

Flying the flag is not a Republican or Democrat thing. It is showing love of country and respect for the men and women who have given their time, or sometimes their life, or become disabled, or a prisoner of war, all in the service of this country.
