Jefferson County Democrats split their primary presidential votes with 54.78 percent for Bernie and 45.22 percent for Hillary. Port Townsend Democrat precincts splits gave 65 percent to Bernie and 3 percent to Hillary. This split clearly demonstrates the county Democrat Party is controlled by the “progressive” elements in Port Townsend.
The recent change in the Jefferson County Democrat Party leadership is further proof of the power and control the “Bernie” Democrats will exercise in county and city politics. Contrary to comments made by party insiders, this is not a blip. Democrats currently control the policy bodies of both elected county and city officials.
The litmus test for elected officials will be the progressive agenda as demanded by the Bernie Democrats.
