Law enforcement has Rhody Fest covered

Posted

A team of experts from multiple county and city agencies are to monitor all events throughout the 82nd Rhody Festival week, from May 15 through May 21.

The agencies, to include Port Townsend Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, JeffCom 911 Dispatch Center, East Jefferson Fire Rescue, Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management and Jefferson Healthcare, have been meeting in the weeks prior to the event to develop an incident action plan, which includes support from the named agencies.

The safety of all emergency responders, participants and visitors is the major objective throughout the week of events. Plans have been laid out to monitor traffic, attend to any medical emergencies and bring in extra resources, if required.

The interagency team is to be posted at the fire station at Lawrence and Harrison streets during the May 20 Rhody Fest Grand Parade. Volunteers from all agencies are to assist with traffic control and manage participants and spectators for all events throughout the week.
