Last chance to guess weight for giant pumpkin

The Food Co-op in Port Townsend is taking part in fall festivities this year, giving shoppers a chance to take a gander at the gourd-geous and gargantuan pumpkin on display.

The store is holding a contest for customers to guess the weight of the giant fall fruit located inside the property’s front entrance. The winner will be announced Friday, Oct. 29, and will receive a $50 gift card to spend at the grocery store.

The massive gourd was grown by David and Nancy Brown of Mustard Seed Farms in Saint Paul, Oregon.

Although the pumpkin doesn’t bear the classic orange hue typically associated with the fall fruit, it more than makes up for it in sheer size and mass.

Residents are encouraged to see the pumpkin for themselves and participate in the weight guessing contest at the Food Co-op, located at 414 Kearney St.
