Kingston runs away with win in boys soccer

First-half scores by Kingston put the East Jefferson boys soccer team in early trouble during their season-end contest against the Buccaneers late last week in Chimacum.

The Buccs built an insurmountable lead to walk away with a 4-1 win.

EJ came in looking for redemption from an earlier 5-0 loss against Kingston, and East Jefferson hoped that the smaller field at Chimacum High would work in their favor.

A series of defensive lapses, though, resulted in a flurry of early goals for the visitors.

Once again, set pieces and counterattacks proved EJ’s undoing as the team continues to go for goal. Kingston’s keeper was up to the task when dealing with the shots and almost kept EJ off the scoreboard from start to finish.

The scoring drought for EJ ended on the stroke of halftime with a free kick from Mark Anderson and a beneficial deflection to put the contest at 4-1.

As EJ went into the second half looking for a way back into the game, chances appeared but none found the mark as time ran out with the score remaining 4-1 in the visitors’ favor.
