Kilmer talk slated for Dec. 2

Congressman Derek Kilmer plans to speak at a Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Luncheon to give a legislative update on Dec. 2 at the Elks Lodge. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. and the program begins at 12:15 p.m. With the House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment hearings underway, it’s likely Kilmer will be asked to address the allegations against President Donald Trump, including bribery, obstruction of justice and encouragement of foreign meddling in U.S. elections. Kilmer last summer declared Trump unfit to be President, based on comments Trump made about foreign-born Americans. Chamber of Commerce Director Arlene Alen said this is not the first time Kilmer has spoken at one of their luncheons. The organization hosts one to two a month and Kilmer has spoken at several over the years. The lunch will benefit Toys for Tots and attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate. The event is free for Chamber members to attend, with non-members and guests asked to make a $5 donation at the door or online. Lunch is catered by Courtyard Cafe and will be $14 for members and $16 for non-members. Register for lunch online at www.jeffcountychamber.org
