Congressman Derek Kilmer claimed an easy majority in the six-person battle for the District 6 position in the U.S. House of Representatives in Tuesday's Primary Election.

Kilmer amassed 52.6 percent of all ballots cast, according to early, unofficial returns on Election Night.

Three Republicans, as well as another Democrat and Independent candidates, were also on the ballot.

Republican Elisabeth Kreiselmaier had 22.7 percent of the vote Tuesday night.

Kreiselmaier unsuccessfully challenged Kilmer, a Gig Harbor Democrat, for the 6th District seat in 2020.

Coming up third Tuesday, according to the first vote tally, was Republican Todd Bloom, with 10.2 percent.

Rebecca Parson, a Democrat, had 8.5 percent, while Republican Chris Binns had 4.5 percent and Independent candidate Tom Triggs had 1.2 percent.

A former member of the state House and Senate, Kilmer first joined Congress in 2013. He has been elected as the 6th District Representative for four straight terms and is seeking a fifth.

The vote tally Tuesday was 72,370 votes for Kilmer, followed by Kreiselmaier (31,308), Bloom (14,091), Parson (11,794), Binns (6,279), and Triggs (1,650).

In Jefferson County, Kilmer finished much better than his districtwide showing. He had 65.3 percent of the vote, while Kreiselmaier, in second, had 15.7 percent.
