Joan Owen passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was seventy-two years old.and had heart failure for a number of years. She and her husband, Skip, had lived in Port Ludlow for fifteen years and six in Sequim where they had a home built. They were married for forty-four years.
At various times they had owned and lived in a home in Santa Clara, Livermore, San Jose, Rio Del Mar, California, Sedona, Arizona and settled for their “geezer” years in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Joan grew up in Ventura County, California and enjoyed the lovely weather and the beaches.
Joan ended up getting her teaching degree from Bethany Bible college in Scotts Valley, California, an accredited school. She taught at a Christian school for three years. Then had various jobs working for a gymnastic school, a tennis club before getting into property management in San Jose, California. It was a firm with massive holdings of apartments in the area. She was the right hand person of the head of the company. After her marriage she did similar work in Burlingame. Later in Washington state she worked as a substitute for secretaries and receptionists in various towns for Edward Jones Financial Services, besides being a volunteer for Hospice.
Joan also did some traveling. At age eighteen spent two and a half months living with a girlfriend at her apartment in Germany and visited many sites. With her husband, later, she spent a month in Greece and another month in Italy. They took various trips to Mexico. Joan was a very kind and likeable smart person besides being blessed with being physically attractive.
She is survived by her husband, Skip, her sister, Barbara and niece, Janna and nephews, Brent and Jeremy. She will be missed.
