The featured artists for December at the Port Townsend Gallery are jewelers Andrea Guarino-Slemmons, Kristen Wade, Addy Thorton, and Shirley Moss.
Guarino-Slemmons loves to be outside with nature, which inspires many of her jewelry designs. She has been focused on duplicating leaves using sterling silver patterned after gingko and aspen in earrings along with pendants to match. After many beach walks, she has gathered countless stones and beach glass to create beautiful jewelry.
Wade will be showing jewelry designs from her “Celtic,” “Botanical,” and “Under the Sea” collections. The jewelry features sterling silver earrings, pendants and bracelets that are textured and patterned with items from nature, including live plants, sea urchin shells, and more.
Thorton presents work that becomes a metaphor for her needs. Glass and semi-precious stones are brought together to accentuate transparency.
Moss excels in making handmade chains in sterling silver, 14-karat gold, gold fill, and copper; one handmade link at a time. Patience and pliers are her tools.
The gallery (715 Water St.) is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Monday, and also by appointment.
