If audit results were report card grades, Jefferson Transit would’ve gotten an A+.

The Jefferson Transit Authority Board met Wednesday, Sept. 7 to hear from and review audit results from the Washington State Auditor’s Office. The office reviewed financial statements and federal awards from the transit authority, with the auditors finding no deficiencies in the design or operation of its finances or federal awards and funding.

Jefferson Transit was audited from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2021.

“In our opinion, the accompanying financial statements referred to above present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of Jefferson Transit Authority as of Dec. 31, 2021,” the auditor’s office said in its report, signed by State Auditor Pat McCarthy.

The authority board and auditor’s office discussed the results in the meeting, with lead auditor Timothy Trail Jr. confirming the transit municipality’s terrific outcomes.

Trail also commended Jefferson Transit’s  Interim Finance Manager Miranda Nash, Interim General Manager Nicole Gauthier, and others for aiding in the auditing process throughout.

“Both audits ended in a clean, unmodified opinion, which are the best results,” Trail said. “We didn’t identify any such statements that needed correction.”

“No questions on a clean audit; keep up the good work team,” said Heidi Eisenhour, vice chair of the transit board.

The Jefferson Transit Authority Board’s next meeting is set for Oct. 18.
