The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 310 calls for service between Saturday, Aug. 20 and Friday, Aug. 26. Below are selected reports.

At 9:37 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 in Port Hadlock, a theft was reported at the Upper Oak Bay Campground.

A man said he had been camping there but items had been taken from his campsite. He said there were irate campers nearby who were being aggressive with him. He said he locked himself in his vehicle because he was fearful for his life.

The man was not sure when his things were taken, but the two suspects were women.

His stove and propane tanks had been stolen.

The man said he had gone to town to do some errands and buy groceries, but when he returned and tried to cook his chicken, his stove was gone.

He said he was having trouble with others in the campground.

A deputy responded and talked to others in the campground, and the victim was advised that things should now quiet down.

If they didn’t, he was told to call back and law enforcement would respond.

At 3:07 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 in Port Hadlock, the camper from an earlier call reported being harassed again.

He said he could hear a man and a woman in the bushes on the other side of his tent talking loudly, and they said he was “really lucky he’s not hurt right now.”

A deputy responded and walked in to the campsite from the road. Nothing was heard, but a car was seen leaving the area.

A camper nearby complained about the man who had summoned law enforcement, and said she had video of him on a game camera that showed him causing issues.

The woman became argumentative and was advised to leave the campground and not return.

The camper who said he was being harassed told a deputy he had contacted his attorney for advise. He also mentioned another man at the campsite who was harassing him, but did not have any proof to share.

The man said he was going to the courthouse in the morning to get a no-contact order.

At 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 in Port Hadlock, a caller reported a theft that happened three weeks ago but was just discovered.

A man couldn’t find the registration for his vehicle and thought someone had stolen it.

Nothing else was missing or disturbed in the vehicle.

The man thought someone had been inside the vehicle because he could smell hand lotion on the steering wheel.

At 4:11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 in Port Hadlock, a resident who lives on a vessel anchored in Lower Hadlock Bay said gas had been siphoned from his vehicle.

There are no suspects.

At 7:36 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 in Port Hadlock, a caller reported the theft of an electric guitar, a bass guitar, and a long skateboard.

The theft happened while the man was in jail.

He gave authorities the name of a suspect.
