Jefferson County Sheriff's Log | Text from a pervert

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 233 calls for service between Saturday, Aug. 6 and Friday, Aug. 12. Below are selected reports.

At 2:43 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 in Quilcene, a woman said her 10-year-old daughter received a sexually explicit photo on her cell phone.

The girl did not know the man who sent it. The message included a photo of a man holding his penis.

The woman was understandably shocked and upset. She called the number back and spoke to an adult man who had some type of an accent. She said during the conversation the man asked her if she liked the photo and if she wanted more.

She told him he had sent the photo to her juvenile daughter and was going to call police, and he told her to “Go ahead.”

A deputy called the man’s number and spoke to a man who identified himself initially as “Mr. Crook.” He was later determined to be a Longview resident.

When advised that sending the text was a mistake, the man said he had met a woman online who told him she wanted to see his private parts, and he sent a photo to her but transposed the last two numbers which resulted in the photo being sent to the woman’s daughter.

He said he felt terrible about the mistake, and said he had a teenage daughter himself and would be very angry if it happened to her.

He also said he initially thought it was someone playing a trick on him which was why he asked if she liked it and wanted more. He said he understood that the mother would be upset, but said that she had been texting him and telling him she was going to shoot him, which he said he didn’t believe but still was concerned about the threats over an honest mistake.

The woman told a deputy she did not make any threat to the man, other than saying she was calling the police. She also said she hadn’t spoken to her husband and didn’t know if her husband had called or not.

The woman was very relieved that the incident appeared to be a mistake instead of some type of pervert trying to send inappropriate pics to her daughter.
