The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 278 calls for service between Friday, Nov. 4 and Friday, Nov. 11. Below are selected reports.

At 2:56 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 in Port Ludlow, a resident reported a prowler. The caller could hear someone walking around on the gravel outside the home.

Deputies responded, and one checked around the residence and found nothing disturbed.

The other deputy spoke with a neighbor, who told the deputy he had heard a bobcat screeching but nothing else.

No signs of wayward people or vehicles were found.

At 7:48 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 in Port Hadlock, a caller said the automatic teller machine at First Security Bank was on the ground and smashed apart.

The caller was an employee at the grocery store, who said a customer came into the business and mentioned the busted-up ATM.

A deputy went to the bank and discovered the ATM had not been damaged at all and was still properly in place.

At 2:37 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7 in Port Hadlock, a man said he was getting threatening texts from another man.

The man who sent the texts told the recipient he was going to “shoot him, kill him, and gut him.”

The caller said he didn’t know why he was getting the messages, which were made on Facebook. He also said he didn’t know the guy who was making the threats, and didn’t feel threatened or afraid of the man.

The caller was advised to block the messages and call 911 if the person who made the threats came onto his property.

At 10:38 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 in Port Hadlock, a caller said a man who was living with the caller’s mother had been asked to move out but he keeps asking her for money.

The man who was supposed to leave insisted that $280 was missing and claimed the mother had taken it. The man sent the caller a message that he was going to contact police about the missing money.

The caller said the man had left two weeks earlier, and that her mother had been giving him money over the past few weeks. She said she doesn’t really know what to do but feels like the man is bullying her mother in an attempt to get more money.

It was determined that the man who wanted the money had previously been a tenant. The man called dispatch and was connected with law enforcement. He agreed not to have any further contact and asked authorities to contact the family and tell them he would respect their privacy.

He also said he was concerned about how the dispute would affect his record.

At 12:51 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 in Chimacum, a caller reported a theft.

Someone stole the transmission and transmission case from a Dodge pickup, and the theft happened the previous Wednesday or Thursday.

There are two houses on the property and the caller had been working on the lower house before discovering the theft.

The parts had an estimated value of $3,500.
