The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 600 calls for service between Saturday, March 19 and Friday, April 1. Below are selected reports.

At 7:17 p.m. Friday, March 25 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported seeing a man in Irondale who was drunk and waving a rifle around. 

The caller was not at the property, but was driving by and observed a man displaying a gun, and heard someone say, “Put the gun away.”

The caller did not want to give a name, but just wanted deputies to know what was going on.

A deputy later spoke with a woman who said someone had pointed a firearm at a loose dog.

The deputy could not locate a suspect or a victim to interview.

At 3:03 p.m. Saturday, March 26 in Chimacum, a renter reported a burglary that happened sometime in the past two weeks.

The caller had been out of town and came home to find the front door lock and handle damaged.

The caller said he was in the middle of moving out and had been having issues with his landlord.

Dog doo-doo had been smeared all over the front door during the latest incident. It was unknown if anything was taken from inside, but the caller said the place looked ransacked.

The caller also said the lock on the front gate had not been damaged, but the front door to his place had been damaged with a pick ax.

The residence was a kit the renter had brought to the property and assembled, and he said he planned to take it with him when he moved out.

The renter did not have contact information for his landlord, but said he would get it and relay it to the sheriff’s office.

At 12:16 a.m. Sunday, March 27 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported a suspicious loud bang in her garage.

Nothing else was heard.

The caller said she was home along with her 2-year-old son, and wanted law enforcement to check the property.

A deputy responded and found nothing amiss.

The woman called back and said she still felt uncomfortable. She asked for a deputy to come back and check the garage and the attic.

A deputy searched the garage and attic and found a lot of cobwebs, indicating no one had been walking around in the attic.

It was determined the woman probably heard something fall over earlier in the garage.

At 10:35 a.m. Sunday, March 27 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported an injured animal by the side of the road.

The responding deputy found an injured doe that could not get up, and the animal had severe injuries from an apparent collision with a vehicle.

The deputy euthanized the animal and dragged it away from the road.
