The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 288 calls for service between Friday, Jan. 27 and Friday, Feb. 3. Below are selected reports.
At 3:57 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 in Quilcene, a caller at the Maple Grove Motel reported a case of theft.
Someone was getting inside Room 9 and staying there without paying.
The caller identified the suspect as a woman who was a former employee at the motel.
The caller confronted the woman and she left. The caller also reported changing the door code and advised the woman to stay away unless she rented a room.
The caller only wanted the incident documented.
At 11:38 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3 in Port Hadlock, a garage was broken into after someone pried open the door.
The garage is the only structure on the property. A deputy responded to the scene, and nothing appeared to be missing from the garage, which had been used for storage. The victim requested additional patrols.
At 2:46 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 in Port Ludlow, a woman received a call from someone who called her “grandma” and wanted the woman to send a gift card.
The woman realized the call was a scam and hung up the phone.
At 4:14 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 in Port Ludlow, an assault was reported near Shine Road.
The first 911 call was disconnected. On a subsequent call, authorities learned that a woman had been bitten by another woman.
The person who was bitten said she had let the other woman stay for two nights but when she was told it was time to leave, they got into a huge fight and she was bitten.
She then called again because the wound was swelling and now needed medical aid.
The other woman, who lives in Irondale, left on foot.
She was later found, and a deputy learned both had been involved in a physical dispute and no one was determined to be the primary aggressor.
The fight likely happened when the Irondale woman was defending herself. She was given resources for her drug use as well as housing options.
