Jefferson County Sheriff's Log | He was "freaky looking"

Posted

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 243 calls for service between Saturday, Feb. 26 and Friday, March 4. Below are selected reports.

At 8:53 p.m. Friday, March 4 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported a suspicious vehicle had come down the driveway but then left after 10 minutes.

The caller’s dogs were acting like someone was still outside.

The vehicle was described as a dark-colored passenger car. The vehicle was gone when a deputy arrived at the scene.

At 9:16 p.m. Friday, March 4 in Forks, a man called to say he was lost and was on foot after his Ford F-350 truck had broken down.

He was near the Hoh Mainline, somewhere near a bridge that had a pit nearby. The lost party included two adults and two children, 9 and 12. They did not have proper food, clothing, or water and were starting to get cold.

The caller said he was now having problems with his phone. He called back to say a cougar had them trapped.

A deputy asked for assistance from Clallam County so they could pick up the family. They were later found and given a courtesy ride to Amanda Park.

The caller said they had been camping near a logging road when his truck had mechanical issues. They had been stranded on another logging road the weekend before under similar circumstances. Both times the man had reported coming to the area at 3 in the morning.

A deputy noted the man had chainsaws large enough to fall timber in his truck. No wood was found in his vehicle either time he had called for assistance.

At 9:31 p.m. Friday, March 4 in Port Hadlock, a caller said a suspicious man knocked on the door of a home and asked the resident for a bottle of water.

The caller said he was “freaky looking” and was dressed in Army green and was carrying a walking stick.

The caller said the man was possibly under the influence of drugs or liquor, and the strange man mentioned that two women had talked to him, and also, there were ghosts.

The man was last seen on the side of the home, but was again walking toward the front door.

A deputy responded and began patrolling the area; the deputy was flagged down by residents at three other homes.

One woman said she saw a video of the strange man on Facebook and said she would be able to identify the man.
