The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 600 calls for service between Saturday, March 19 and Friday, April 1. Below are selected reports.

At 9:11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23 in Brinnon, a caller said he has two lots in the Lazy C Ranch, and someone had tampered with his PUD water valve to let the water flow continuously. He said he got a water bill for $400.

Upon further investigation, authorities determined a PUD padlock had been put on the line, but it had been cut off, and about 58,000 gallons were released.

It was the second time the water had been turned off. The water had also been turned off at the meter by the PUD but was turned back on.

At 10:13 a.m. Wednesday, March 23 in Brinnon, a resident said a neighbor’s property had been burglarized.

The neighbor had moved to a care facility, and the caller noticed the gate to the neighbor’s property had been cut and the front door was kicked in.

The caller did not enter the home.

A deputy visited the property and found an ultralight aircraft in the garage, but could not determine if anything of value had been taken .

At 3:29 p.m. Thursday, March 24 in Port Ludlow, a caller said his 57-year-old son was missing.

The caller said the son was a transient who had last been contacted in Portland, Oregon in May 2020.

When the father contacted authorities to report his missing son, he was told Portland police would not take the report, and that he needed to file the report locally.

At 2:11 a.m. Friday, March 25 in Chimacum, a caller reported seeing flashlights inside a business located in a barn on Beaver Valley Road.

A small 1990s vehicle and an older single-cab truck were seen near the business. The caller saw two flashlights inside the barn, but called because they knew the business was closed at that time.

Deputies searched buildings on the property that were not locked, but found nothing suspicious.

At 3:17 p.m. Friday, March 25 in Chimacum, dispatchers were contacted by a man with a thick accent that was hard to understand.

The caller reported a tenant that was staying on the property who had been evicted earlier in the day but had not yet left.

A deputy tried twice to contact the caller with no success.

During a subsequent visit to the property, a deputy was told by a neighbor that the female tenant was seen leaving the residence that morning.
