Jefferson County Sheriff's Log | Demons on the balcony

Posted

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 240 calls for service between Saturday, April 16 and Friday, April 22. Below are selected reports.

At 11:14 a.m. Monday, April 18 in Chimacum, a caller said her father has been missing for two years but she has been getting phone calls from someone who wanted to find him.

She had asked them to stop calling with no success, and the person claimed to be associated with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was told it was a scam, and suggested that she block the caller.

At 1:34 p.m. Monday, April 18 in Chimacum, a resident reported getting contacted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection which reported having several packages with the resident’s name on them.

She said the caller wanted to talk about a money transfer, but did not give away any personal information.

The call was determined to be a scam.

At 3:09 p.m. Monday, April 18 in Quilcene, a caller said he felt someone was threatening him with their vehicle.

The caller said he was concerned about a man who had a new van and was planning to do some damage with it.

A deputy spoke with the caller, who said he didn’t trust his neighbor because he was a liberal and had just purchased a van that had steel plates on it. He felt like the van owner was going to hurt someone.

At 8:51 p.m. Monday, April 18 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported a neighbor who was in his room screaming, “Die! Die! Die!”

The neighbor, a man in his 40s, could be heard screaming in the background by 911 dispatchers.

The neighbor lived with his elderly parents.

The caller said he was afraid to leave his home because of his neighbor and said it was an ongoing issue.

The parents of the man were contacted, and authorities learned the man had been yelling for two days. He had a history of mental issues and using meth.

The son thinks demons are on the roof and on his balcony, and he shouts all night long.

Outbursts are followed by normal activity where he has no recollection of shouting.

A deputy had tried to contact the man a few weeks earlier, but he would not unlock his bedroom door.

The neighbor said he had earlier seen the man walking around in his own backyard with a baseball bat in his hands and yelling, and said he did not feel safe in his own home.

The neighbor was advised he could get a court order and was told to call back if any threats were made or if the man came onto his property.

At about 11:30 p.m., the neighbor called back and wanted a deputy to give the parents a citation for noise that would pressure them to kick their son out of the home.

Authorities explained to the caller that would not result in the son getting the mental health assistance he needed, and that a citation couldn’t be given to the parents, as they were not the ones making the noise.
