The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 291 calls for service between Friday, Jan. 6 and Friday, Jan. 13. Below are selected reports.
At 10:32 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 in Brinnon, the front plate of a mail truck was stolen sometime during the prior week.
At 11:04 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 in Port Hadlock, a boat was on the rocks south of the Indian Island Bridge and was sinking. The vessel appeared to be 25 feet long, with a blue sail or tarp. No one was seen aboard.
Authorities learned the Department of Natural Resources was working with the boat’s owner to have it removed.
At 11:05 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 in Quilcene, a burglary was reported. A locked gate was cut open and the front door to the home was open.
The break-in appeared to have taken place within the past week. Cabinets and bolts were removed from the home.
At 7:19 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9 in Port Hadlock, a business reported a burglary that had occurred over the weekend.
Several items were missing. It was not clear if the back door had been left unlocked or if an intruder had a key; deputies were unable to find any signs of forced entry.
The investigation is continuing.
