The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 333 calls for service between Friday, Sept. 3 and Friday, Sept. 10. Below are selected reports.

At 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 in Quilcene, a caller reported a trailer parked near a white pickup and a blue van on Sandy Shore Lake Road.

The caller was unsure if someone was dumping vehicles or living there.

A deputy made contact and found three people who were homeless and were living in the vehicles.

They had been looking for a home in the area but had not found one yet, and had been parking on logging roads and at county parks while their home search continues.

A deputy noted the family had not left any garbage behind at any location where they had been staying.

At 6:44 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 in Port Hadlock, a man said an unwanted woman was on the property.

A deputy responded and found the caller had dated the woman for eight years but the pair had broken up.

The man wanted her trespassed from the property, but the woman was living in a motorhome on the property.

The man said she had no reason to be on the business side of the property, and said he was not allowed into the house on the back side of the land where the woman lived.

The deputy suggested the man seek a no-contact order. The deputy emailed the man the court forms needed to get the order.

At 1:51 a.m. Wednesday,  Sept. 8, a man said he was assaulted on a dirt road in Chimacum and had blunt force trauma.

He resisted giving any additional details, and kept repeating “blunt force trauma.”

The man walked to a business 10 minutes away from his location to speak with a deputy. He gave very specific legal and medical terms to describe his situation, which occurred during an assault on a nearby dirt road.

When asked to describe his actual injuries, the man simply said, “I don’t have a mirror.”

A deputy described the incident as a “one-punch assault.”

At 9:01 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 in Port Ludlow, a woman said someone was threatening to kill her.

He had a piece of glass and was threatening to cut her with it.

The caller said she was going to move in but was now just trying to get her stuff, and he would not let her in.

The man had broken a mirror and was using a piece of glass taken out of a refrigerator to threaten the woman. She said he had told her he had been using methamphetamine.

The woman said the man was now throwing things at her, and had broken multiple items in the residence.

The man also said he had killed someone in the home the night before and was giving them CPR.

She said the man had put the glass down, but had come outside and was following her around the outside of her house. When she approached her vehicle, he told her she couldn’t get in the car. She did, and then left.

A deputy and a navigator went to the scene. The woman refused to be a victim or give a statement against the man. She gathered her things while police were at the scene.

Officers spoke to the man but he had trouble maintaining his focus. He indicated he was getting help after being diagnosed as a schizophrenic, and denied any drug or alcohol use.

He later admitted that he had been using meth.

Officers tried to refer the man to health services but he did not want any assistance.
