The Jefferson County Sheriff Office received 160 calls for service from Saturday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 10. Below are selected reports.

At 9:26 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 in Queets, a deputy received a third-hand report of suspicious activity, possibly a theft.

After responding to the call, it appeared that someone had taken $5,000 worth of cedar and moved it to a property that was a short distance away.

A person on the property was contacted, and the resident claimed ignorance of laws restricting the harvesting of forest specialty products.

A case report will be completed and forwarded to the prosecutor following a visit to the site by a forester.

At 12:27 p.m. Wednesday,  Dec. 8 in Chimacum, a caller found an unknown substance on his property that he thought might be drugs.

The substance was tested, but it did not test positive for methamphetamine.

At 2:38 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 in Port Ludlow, a woman said her identity had been stolen in October.

She froze her account and notified her bank, but said she had just discovered that a Discover credit card application had been made in her name.

The woman contacted Discover, and an employee said the application had been put on hold because the address could not be verified. The person used an address that did not match the caller’s.

The woman was given a case number and advised to contact the FBI’s website for fraud.

At 10:06 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 in Brinnon, a man said the neighbor’s dogs chased him and he ran to his shop to escape.

The dogs barked and growled at him. The animals were described as a German shepherd and a smaller dog. The man said the shepherd belonged to a neighbor but he had never seen the smaller one before.

Animal control made plans to contact the owner of the shepherd.

At 10:23 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 in Nordland, a woman said she was afraid of her ex-partner.

She was afraid the 72-year-old was going to hurt or kidnap her, and added that she almost left her house the previous night with the fear that the man “and his thugs would pretend to be police and attack.”

She couldn’t articulate what made her think that way, but she said she thinks it’s going to happen and that she “put the pieces together”

She said the man was her ex from 20 years ago and is a dangerous person. She had no recent contact from him but added she called him weeks ago to ask if he had seen her son.

No actual threat was reported and the deputy said they would patrol the area.
